*heavy breathing*
I never thought I’d want a car more than I want another ‘65 MG Midget, but this Miata just changed that.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
don’t care.
Still want this Miata.

Ooooh, that’s pretty - although I find it very weird that it has power windows. Hell, I’m kinda surprised it has windows and not curtains.

Despite the power windows, it’s still almost 1000 lbs lighter than a modern Miata...
Also from 1970 onwards, these made 126 hp. The NA 1.6l Miatas made 116.
I kinda need one of these.

So, like 1400 lb? Wow.

That’s without the driver. This is a rare car in that it gets 10-20% heavier for each additional human that’s sitting in it.

Can confirm 95 HP in a 1700lb Spitfire is mental. This has to be off the charts.

That's why you want the 1.8L Miata engine.

Heavy breathing is right. I hate that I don’t have dozens of thousands of dollars to waste at any given moment.

I agree, although I don't care enough about the difference to ever swap out the dash in my 1.8

Yeah... That so much work. If I had a big garage and was already tearing into the dash for major projects, maybe.
Although I'd lose my secret amplifier storage spot...

I love this dealer’s crazy inventory but they should really have seperate inventories for projects and turn key cars.

I haven't even changed out the awful Sony Xplod head unit that the previous owner installed. It's so terrible that I consider it a theft deterrent. I've had a car broken into before to steal my stereo, so I don't really want to put I nice stereo in a car with a vinyl top.

Beverly Hills Car Club is wild. They had an Alfa GTV with some rare VIN, for $86k. The back end of the car was GONE. Rusted away for eighty-six thousand dollars.

The weight penalty is probably minimal, I would guess - weight benefit would surprise me though?

Mine only has about 50 : ( But a 13b should brighten it up a bit. Care to share how you made 95hp?

That’s a Lotus Elan, not a Miata.

Power windows but you have to spend 10 minutes putting the top up or down :) The Miata may have been inspired by Lotus but thank god they took Fiat and Alfa’s lead in convertible tops.

Well if you start with a late Mk.3 without emissions, they were plated as 78 (at least the Canadian cars) and capable of quite a bit more. We didn’t do a ton to it, modern coil, electronic ignition, decent wires and modern plugs (well at least mid-90s modern)
. Swapped the twin-SUs for a Weber. Big ass Monza exhaust & decent headers made a huge difference. Basically a stage 1+ bolt on tune will give you 15-20% boost in horsepower. Added a kit to make the rear suspension safer, and the thing was a total riot, and a lot cheaper than an NA Miata in the 90s
.

Same weight but half the power output. I used to have a ‘65 MG Midget; it was great but the Lotus will own both on any autoX course.

Yeah that is fair. I have a 69 Sprite with a 1275, but I really want a 100/6 BN6 and take it on vintage rallies and AutoX
